Frequently Asked Questions
Training Questions
What does the training process look like?
Our Training is conducted one-on-one, in your home, to ensure your dog learns in a familiar and relevant environment. This approach helps reinforce training isn’t limited to a specific location or person— it applies everywhere, especially with you. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes and is tailored to your dog’s unique needs, behavior, and goals. We’ll guide you on how to effectively reinforce the training between sessions so your dog sees you as a confident leader. For the best results, we recommend two sessions per week. Discounted packages are available when booking multiple sessions in advance.
What’s the difference between Core Training and Pack Training?
Core Training is one-on-one and fully customized in 30 minute sessions, while group training is done in a public space with other ADS clients and their dogs to reinforce skills in a social setting. These sessions are 1 hour long and locations will vary.
What is the Puppy Program?
The Puppy Program is a customized version of our Core Training, specifically designed for young dogs in their critical early development stage. Sessions are kept short— 10-20 minutes—to align with a puppy’s attention span and maximize learning. Training takes place one-on-one in your home, allowing your puppy to learn essential skills in their environment. In addition to foundational obedience, we focus on name recognition, potty training, crate training, and establishing healthy routines. We recommend 3 to 4 sessions per week for consistent progress and long-term success.
How long will my dog be in training?
Every dog is unique, so there is no fixed timeline. Training continues until you feel confident in your dog’s progress and your ability to lead them effectively. Just like people, dogs need consistent reinforcement— without it, learned behaviors can fade over time. After formal training concludes, we encourage ongoing practice at home to maintain results. If you ever need additional support, we offer individual refresher sessions and group Pack Training opportunities.
Care Questions
How do Drop-In Visits and Walking/Running work?
We provide personalized care directly at your home, based on your dog’s needs and your preferences. Prior to the first visit, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet to review instructions, gather any necessary access information (such as a key or door code), and ensure your dog feels comfortable with us. This information is securely stored in your client file for future visits. Most clients choose a recurring schedule— for example, every Tuesday at 1PM—for consistency and convenience. Drop-In Visits and Walking/Running services start at $15 per visit.
What does In-Home Sitting entail?
In-Home Sitting provides overnight care in the comfort of your home, giving your dog familiar surroundings and consistent companionship while you’re away. For $45 per day, a team member will stay with your dog from 3:30PM-6:30AM. Most ADS staff hold full-time positions and are unavailable between 6:30AM and 3:30PM, but additional daytime Drop-In Visits can be arranged for an additional fee. If Drop-In Visits are not ideal for your needs, we can also coordinate transport to and from a trusted dog daycare facility. Whether it’s for a planned trip or an unexpected emergency, we’re here to make sure your dog is safe, happy, and well-cared for.
Do you service multiple dogs at once?
Yes! Depending on your situation, number and size of animals, and needs, we will work with you to ensure your dogs needs are met.
Find-a-dog
How does Find-a-Dog work?
The Find-a-Dog program begins with a one-on-one consultation to understand your lifestyle, preferences, and goals for dog ownership. Based on that information, we partner with reputable breeders, rescues, and shelters to identify potential matches. Once we’ve narrowed down the options, we’ll schedule a follow-up meeting to review the candidates and coordinate meet-and-greets with the dogs you’re most interested in. If you choose to enroll in our Core Training program after placement, you’ll receive 50% off the cost of Find-a-Dog services. Find-a-Dog has a flat rate of $50.
